Chardonnay Golf Club - 27 Holes, Napa Carneros
27 Holes of Championship Golf
Chardonnay's courses challenge players of all skill levels, our Lakes, Meadows and Vineyards Courses represent the premier golf destination in the bay area.
Starting off with a dogleg left par 5, the Meadows will route you through vineyards, 100 plus year-old Valley Oaks and the rugged Fagan Creek. As with the 1st and 4th on the Lakes, you will again be rewarded with a beautiful vista on the 5th tee, a stout par 3 that plays much like an island green floating amongst the vineyards. Over the final two holes, you'll experience a tough par 4 test, perhaps the strongest on the property and a risk-reward par 5 that could make or break your round. Either way, you'll be ready for a well-earned glass of our Chardonnay, a chilled brew and some quality fare from our Chef's menu in the Sandtrap Bar & Grill.
Starting at one of the highest points of the property, your view from Lakes #1 will feature views to the north and west up the Napa Valley and the Napa River Estuary. The Lakes, aptly named, has water hazards including lakes and creeks in play for all 9 holes. However, some of these hazards are not water, but working vineyards played as Lateral Water Hazards. Blending three par 3's, three par 5's and three par 4's, the Lakes flows smoothly and cleverly for nine holes, concluding with the fine par 5, number 9.
Playing due west, the first hole starts adjacent to an inspiring one hundred year-old Valley Oak that we often use as a backdrop for wedding ceremonies. As one can imagine, there are vineyards everywhere one looks featuring grapes of chardonnay, syrah and merlot for future vintages. After playing through the vineyards on holes 1-5, plan on crushing your drive over a large lake on the par 5 6th hole. As with the Meadows, the naturalized Fagan Creek comes into play on the 8th and 9th holes, with two crossings on the risk-reward finishing hole. Make eagle here for true capper to your round then head for the Sandtrap Bar & Grill, you'll be ready for a well-earned glass of our Chardonnay, or a chilled brew and some quality fare from our Chef's menu.

Napa Golf Course at Kennedy Park - Public, 18 Holes
Playable, Traditional Design
The traditionally designed course by Jack Fleming (who also designed Olympic Club Lake Course) and Bob Baldock opened in 1968 and is playable by golfers of all skill levels as it winds through the gradual elevation changes around the estuary of the Napa River. Water is present on 16 holes but as Tom Sims, General Manager says, "Water is not all that intrusive. There are only two water carries and really the course is very playable from the correct set of tees.”
The course plays to a par-72 and has a Black Tee yardage of 6,704-yards, a course rating of 72.7 and slope of 131. However Napa Golf Course also has three other sets of tees with the shortest, the Gold Tees, a very golfer friendly 5,690-yards. The small sized greens (3,500 to 4,500 square feet) generally slope from back to front with contours on the sides calling for well struck approach shots. Bunkering is strategic, a characteristic of Fleming designs.
Most greenside bunkers set some distance from the putting surface but create an illusion of the sand being very close to the green. From the tee however, Fleming used bunkers as guides for tee shots not to create penal situations that can quickly ruin a round. Concerning the rough Sims commented, “We keep the rough relatively short at two inches because there's enough challenge already.”
3 ½ Stars
